UNIT 7: VOCABULARY

PHRASAL VERBS:

Take off: when a plain departs or leaves the ground

Turn back: return to a place

Stop over: stop and stay the night in a place

Speed up: accelerate 

Set off: to start a journey

See off: say goodbye

Get on: to enter a bus, plan or train

Get off: to leave a train, bus or plane 

Get away: to go on a holiday or on a short break

Come across: discover something 


TRANSPORT VOCABULARY:

Rush hour: a time of day in which large numbers of people are in transit, as going to or returning from work

Pedestrians: a person who is walking, especially in an area where vehicles go

Double-decker:  a bus that has two floors

Fare: an amount of money that you have to pay to go on a bus 

Commuting: travel some distance between one's home and place of work on a regular basis
